Introduction to Sculpture & Modeling materials and tools

One of the most famous forms of art is sculpture. Some of the most famous artist has got many sculptures to there name. Each region has its unique techniques, materials and tools that they use to produce a sculpture. Some of these are discussed below

  • Caliper: there are two types of calipers that are used by the sculptor. These are know as Amaco Lid Master and Steel Caliper. The Amaco Lid Master are used to ensure that the lids are of the same size that you want them to be. It has two ends: one end is for measuring the inside while the other is for measuring the outside of the lid. The Steel Calipers are steel instruments that are used to measure the inside as well as the outside
  • There are number of clay and modeling materials that are used in making sculpture. Some of these are listed below

    • Firing clays
    • Oven Bake clay
    • Dough Modeling
    • Modeling clays
    • Polymer clay
  • The next in the list are the Hammers and Mallets. Each one of these have different use and purpose. Although there are number of hammers and mallets that have been developed by different companies but some of these are listed below
